TVH is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate CAD Operator to join our team in Olathe, KS. In this role you will serve as the subject matter expert in creating drawings, determining dimensions, and updating the engineering database with the drawings.

Core Functions

  • Determine dimensions of sample parts using calipers, radius gages, micrometers, optical comparator or other measuring tools.
  • Determine hardness using cutting or abrasive tools, Rockwell tester or similar indent-testing apparatus.
  • Create CAD drawings using above information. Drawings are expected to be accurate and follow ANSI drawing standards as much as possible. These drawings are proof read by senior engineering staff members.
  • Updating engineering database, including entering new drawing requests
  • Creation and retrieval of TVH production samples
  • Revising existing technical drawings or Bills of Material, which may include researching problems reported by DCN form or customer
  • Filing, copying and distributing drawings
  • Creating parts lists and bills of material as necessary
  • Ability to meet project schedules and goals
  • Performing prototype assembly tasks, investigating manufacturing or QA problems as requested.
  • Rendering technical opinions if asked or if management would benefit from the expertise offered
  • Preparing monthly reports of projects and drawings in process or completed
  • Developing a working relationship and interacting with all other departments, particularly Quality Assurance and all phases of the warehouse

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude and demonstrate a desire to collaborate effectively with others
  • Work experience using CAD or certified CAD training
  • Demonstrated ability to meet project schedules and departmental goals
  • Basic proficiency using Google mail and calendar, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. organizational, time management and follow up skills
  • Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude and demonstrate a desire and ability to collaborate effectively with others


  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years’ college, vocational, or technical school drafting training or a minimum of two years drafting experience using CAD.

Preference will be given to applicants who 

  • Experience using SolidEdge or other 3D CAD tools
  • Experience in the use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Access databases
